RESPONSIBLE TO: The Committee Background Kingsteignton Swimming Pool is a registered charity run by a voluntary committee. The pool is open from April to September. The manager is essential to the continuing success of the pool and recruiting the right individual for this post is vital. Role Summary This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual with leisure centre experience to be responsible for the day-to-day running of the pool and its team of staff. We expect the manager to demonstrate a commitment to the pool and the value it provides to its users and the local community. The manager is expected to be aware that the pool is a Registered Charity run by volunteers and the restraints this brings on finances, making recommendations of any savings that can be made or to recommend any fundraising ideas. Main Responsibilities • To assist the Directors in appointing new staff • To manage the staff team including ensuring all staff receive on site induction training to enable them to competently complete the requirements of their post. • To complete the staff rota ensuring that the staffing requirements according to the NOP are met whilst being mindful of budget constraints. To ensure all staff have completed their monthly time sheets and to monitor the hours claimed for. • Ensure a safe and healthy environment for all our customers whilst providing high standards of customer care at all times. • Undertake the day to day running of the swimming pool in accordance with the standard operating procedures and relevant documents, including safeguarding and requirements of HSE. • Prepare the facilities in accordance with the daily rotas, cleaning lists and the Committee instructions. • To take responsibility for the management of the employed staff and to ensure that all staff are trained and monitored to perform the duties outlined in their job description. • To set an example for all staff. • To be responsible for the pool plant and instructing staff when appropriate in this area. • To cash up at the end of the day when on duty in line with instructions. • To attend mandatory training • Undertake any other duties as and when requested by the Committee and report to the committee on a regular basis. • To support volunteers in the pool kiosk Personal Specification Requirement Desirable/Essential National Pool Lifeguard Qualification E Previous management experience of working in a leisure environment D Knowledge of leisure centre operations E Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team E A clear appreciation of customer needs and the importance of good customer service E Ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally E Flexible and committed with good problem- solving skills. E Ability to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends. E An up-to-date DBS check E Evidence of continuous professional development and learning/regular staff training D Pool plant qualification E General office skills D Swimming Teaching Qualifications Level 1 or 2 D
