Job description
We have an exciting opportunity to become a Trustee for Circadian Trust! Circadian Trust operate and develop Active Lifestyle Centres across South Gloucestershire, and we are currently looking to recruit additional voluntary Trustees for our Board. Charity Trusteeship can be a rewarding experience, working together in partnership with others who share values, and commitment to achieve a vision. By becoming a Trustee, you are at the centre of the action. Trusteeship can also be about your own development as a person: learning new, diverse skills and initiatives and new ways of working. Reasons for becoming a Trustee include: Being a more active citizen Giving something back Serving your community Using your skills, experience and knowledge Helping the organisation achieve its aims Developing interpersonal skills in an atmosphere often more supportive and less hierarchical than the workplace Gaining experience of decision making at the highest-level information Developing skills valued by business Who can become a Trustee? Anyone over the age of 18 can apply to be a Trustee and lack of previous experience at Board level should not stop you from applying. Being a Trustee is an interesting and stimulating role, ensuring the charity is not only reaching its goals, but is forward-thinking and running as efficiently as possible. Who we are looking for: We are seeking to fill two vacancies and would love to hear from you if you have a background in finance (preferably hold an accounting or finance qualification), any charity sector, social enterprise or governance. You will need to be able to: Work effectively as a member of the team Have an ability to think creatively and a willingness to speak your mind Have a strategic vision and good, independent judgment Have a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort – approximately one meeting per quarter plus time to read papers Attend the Annual General Meeting Keep informed about the organisation’s activities Attending 4 Board meetings plus attending 4 committee meetings in addition each year. Commit to the organisation Understand and accept the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of Trusteeship. Have knowledge of Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership Want to find out more?
